media player issues

I bought my son a Dell netbook for Christmas . Its running Windows 7.  When he tries to watch YouTube or just about anything else it tells him to update his adobe flash player.  bbut when he goes to do that it will not let him!!!!   I'm wondering if this is a 32 bit vs 64 bit problem.    HELP ME PLEASE!!!

I don't know the answer to that. Try posting on the Microsoft Operating System Board.

This is almost certainly a problem with Adobe Flash not being compatible with 64 bit Internet Explorer.  On most new Dells you will notice that both the 32 bit and the 64 bit version of IE is installed.   Have your son open the 32 bit version and see if the problem resolves itself.   Adobe doesn’t have an official version of Flash that is compatible with 64 bit IE.  They do have a beta of shorts that is supposed to work fine with 64 bit IE.  Here is a link to an article from Adobe discussing the problem and where you can get the preview version of their 64bit Flash.

    I hope that this helps
