mouse disabled
I have a Dell Latitude C600 laptop and I have been having problems with the cursor running all over the page at times. I read through some of the suggestions that have been posted and thought I would try disabling the pointer pad. After doing this I do not have any way to move the cursor. I am afraid that I disabled my mouse and the small finger component in the center of the keyboard as well as the pad. How can I enable these items? I do not know how to use the keyboard to open and select the correct files. Help!

Hi,
If you hit the " Windows " key, you will get the start menu. You can move around using Tab and the Arrow keys. The Enter will then work as " left click " . You will have a bit of trial and error, I cant suggest much more, but you could put a Post on a software board with the steps you need to take. ( to get back to where you disabled it ) Have you tried an external mouse or safe mode ?
Regards Chris
- Annie,
Follow Chris' instructions to arrow through to 'all programs' accessories, accessibility wizard to enable the "KeyBoard Mouse"
for anyone having trouble with mice.

edit; when you wrote "...mouse was disabled by selecting options in the properties drop down file..." did you do this in System, hardware, device manager?
(as disable in this profile is not offered on ALPS "properties" much to the dismay of game players)Message Edited by Art on 10-03-2005 01:23 AM

Hi,
By disable, did you unplug things, or use software settings ? As a quick workaround, you can get a cheap USB or PS2 mouse. The usual cause of your problem is the pointer stick in the keyboard. The easiest fix is to cut the cable and insulate it. ( after making sure it is the cause ) Have you tried to reverse what you did ?
