    Hi,

Use the Dell Resource CD (Drivers, Utilities and diagnostics) and re-install your input drivers. You can try to uninstall them first, under Device manager, which you may find under :

Right click on My Computer, Properties, Hardware, Device Manager and check for Mouse and other pointing devices. Uninstall them and reinstall them again from the Resource CD. I guess that should just about solve the issue. Else you can try to change the mouse function speed in Control panel. Go to Start >> settings >> control panel and check for Mouse and change the speed at which it moves, perhaps its set to too fast.

    Regards

Many times this is a hardware problem and not a driver problem. It is solved by replacing the palm rest assembly.

Wiggle the pointer nub between the g and h keys.  Many times this gets stuck off center.  If you are not using it, take the nub off - it pulls off.
