No control panel for touchpad

Lot's of touchpad issues with Inspiron 5558. At first it kept freezing up guess that's been solved with chipset driver and i/o driver for Intel hardware. But also notice that this touchpad has no way to adjust features, sensitivity or gestures. Every touchpad I have ever used has had a control panel. Its nowhere to be found. In fact the Inspiron 5558 lists no touchpad driver at all and apparently the one in Windows 10 lists the driver as being from 2006. Now I do have two finger scroll and it does perform OK. But even when I try and install the Synaptic driver it says it installs OK but nothing really changes. Hopefully someone can chime in on solutions? Dell support certainly had none.

Something wrong with this TouchPad. Only drivers it accepts are generic drivers from Microsoft from 2006.

PS/2 driver and a Human interface driver. Yes, you get some gesture function, but I experienced plenty of freeze ups requiring reboots and missed clicks, over sensitive tap to clicks and sometimes a left click is registered as a right click. Interesting how if you look up the Inspirion 5558 support by the model and not by service tag you will not find the 5558 listed? But I can't seem to find any touchpad driver listed for the Inspirion 5558. The only driver listed under Mouse/keyboard drivers for that model is a Logitech Unifying receiver driver. When I try installing the generic Synaptics driver in indicates that it installs correctly, but nothing really happens. My feeling is, that the touchpad is defective and the identifying firmware for the touchpad is missing. Tech support has told me if drivers do not fix it then they have to replace the hardware. Sadly, I am just going to return the notebook for refund.
