ongoing problems
This is my third Dell computer, a Dell M90. The first two computers were desktops that lasted just over a year and then the motherboard was fried. One had defective memory. This laptop is less than 6 months old and has already had a defective video card, a defective motherboard, and two defective AC adaptors replaced.
Upon reformatting the HD after memory corruption (common to all my Dells), I have tried to reinstall the drivers. The Dell site lists lots of drivers that do not pertain to my system and several that may or may not (as the packing slip lists the names of the parts differently than in dell's web site. Right now I can't reinstall certain software as the ethernet card is somehow inactivated. How does one get a list of the files that one actually should download to reinstall after a reformat? Last time I called Dell, they said they would tell me for $100 service charge.....
....not pleased with Dell

This does not provide any information on ethernet card, internal controllers, etc. Since downloading the drivers for this system gives a lot of bogus drivers for other M90 laptops that are not applicable to my computer (I know, since I've done that before), it is unclear how one downloads the correct drivers. I have called Dell, who says it is a software issue and they do not provide support for free, but will gladly help for $100. The problem is the web site does not list the drivers for my system. Yes, my system is on my account page with the above information.

As mentioned above, it is not that my system is not in Dell's database. It is that Dell's database for drivers both has lacking drivers and excess drivers not pertinent to myh system. I'm not sure what you are talking about in the bios check, but in the device manager, all is running with the exception of "other device">"base system device". Dell's site lacks information on setting up pertinent drivers after reformatting. It lacks a search engine for this error message. (Also Dell's tech support changes its policy regularly regarding whether laptops just bought can be serviced outside the US for deployed military. On full moons it is possible. Otherwise not)

is the lan shown as installed and enabled in bios?
if you are in the US then click on the link below, click on the original configuration tab and put in your asset code.
