Playing games

Hi all, I am new to the world of Laptop computers, I have just purchased a Dell Inspiron 6000 & mainly want to use it for entertainment on the move, I have loaded a few games & the one that came with the machine Lord of the Rings & they load ok but do not play ! I think its due to the graphics on board see below for spec, I have only 8mb of video ram & i am looking for at least 64mb is there any way i can obtain this, or do i have to invest in a upgrade ?

That model cannot be upgraded video-wise. If "just bought" is within 21 days from shipment, and you bought from Dell Home in the US, you can return it for any reason. Do so - and reconsider your choice of system. At a minimum you want the 6000D model with the ATI X300 card. However, if decent gaming is your goal, even that's not going to fill your needs for very long. You should consider replacing the 6000 with either a Latitude D810 with the ATI X600 video, or an Insprion 9300 with the nVidia 6800.

This is a sweet deal on the 9300 $750.00 off .The 9300 with the 6800 go videocard with 1 gig of ram will play anything you throw at it and play it very well.

Many thanks, I bought the machine through an offer from my work place in the UK, I will see if I can sort anything out with them.

That does indeed seem like a great deal but unfortunately the original poster lives in the UK!
