RAM

I have a Inspiron 1100, I mostly do school work, surf the internet and every once in a while watch a DVD. I have (2)  256MB RAM...would it be worth my money to upgrade to (2) 512MB. I plan on traveling alot with this thing. And also would I be able to tell a difference in how it runs after I upgrade if I choose.

In that case, its probably not worth the upgrade.

If you already have 512, for what you are using your laptop for you are not going to see much of a difference. I would save my money and use it for your travels.

Ok, If you already have 512MB, as mikesd and myself have mentioned that is really the best amount for you, it would be a waste to get any more.

If I understand correctly, do you have 256MB (2x128MB sticks) in there now? If so then you should notics a fair performance boost, as Windows will be eating a lot of your current 256MB RAM as it is, not to mention the integrated graphics are using 32-64MB of that as well. A total of 512MB (2x256MB) would be optimal for you.
