Shut down problem
My lap is not getting fully shut down. The screen goes off but the light is still on in the power button. It remains on untill the battery drains. I need to press the power button for few seconds to turn off the lap completely. Is this a hardware problem.?

Hi,
Thank you for replying to my post.
I don't receive any message that it is waiting on any specific software to to close. And there is no any peripherals attached to the laptop as you said. And this happens only when I shut down my laptop, and the system also gets hang when I open it after putting it sleep.
LCD attached to the system goes off in the sense I mean the laptop shuts down as it does normally.
Only the light will be on in the power button which is used to start the lap

Hi,
Try this link regarding power settings on Win8. Next, try this link from Microsoft. See if this helps at all.

Hi,
I wouldn't think it's a hardware issue. Possible, but usually it's some software that isn't shutting down and keeping the system running. When you go to shut down Windows do you get a message that it is waiting on any specific software application to close before Windows can shut down? When you say the screen goes off, is that the LCD attached to the system or do you have another monitor (or two) hooked up?
Also, do you have any peripherals such as a printer, monitor, etc., hooked up to the system? What about wireless networks? Try unhooking any physical items that are connected to the laptop, if any, and see if that allows it to shut down.
Lastly, does this happen only when you shut down or does the system also seem to hang when you ask it to restart?
If you can give me a bit more detail about the questions above I'll see if there is anything else I can think of to help you out.
