Slow Inspiron 1501

I bought an Inspiron 1501 last year and only just really using for the internet now, would like to say how disappointed i am by it. The lap top takes around 10mins to turn on and once you click on internet explorer it doesn't load for ages. Any ideas why it is so slow and what i can do to stop it?
I dont have many programmes installed and defragment regularly.

Everything is just so slow and I paid a lot of money for it im not happy

I always back up all my files and data and completely reinstall windows each year to keep everything fresh and running smoothly. It gets rid of a lot of the programs and stuff that I do not use anymore.

Hardware doesn't just slow down over time. Software does.

Some specs of your 1501 would be helpful. If you have McAfee
get rid of it. It sped up my 1501 quite a bit after I removed it. I'm using Vista Home Premium and it works great.

Your computer is running so slow because of your ram. I am not sure how your computer is even functioning with only 446mb, vista's requires at least 1gig ram to function and even at 1gig it is slow. Get more ram or downgrade to windows xp and your computer will be fast again.

I found a website that sells RAM for quite cheap but how easy will it be for me to replace my existing RAM?
