Touchpad issues

I cant seem to find an answer to this anywhere.  I have a latitude 6420 and when i am typing it will un-select the program or where i am typing and will not type unless i re-select where i want to type. i have updated all the drivers i can think of. Any suggestions will help.

    Hello Kmor202,

It is annoying when you are typing a document or resting your palm on the palm-rest and accidentally the palm of your hand brushes the touchpad, changing the position of the cursor in your document or accidentally clicking on an option. Touch Freeze is simple utility for Windows that solves this problem. It automatically disables touch-pad while you are typing text. Download latest Windows binaries from downloads section.

Please try the installing the touch freeze once downloaded and check the functionality. Write back if you have any further questions.

I have that on my computer. But that doesn't seem to help at all. If I peck at the keys it will still do it, and there is no way that I am touching the touch pad.

    Hello Kmor202,

In this please Re-installing drivers for the touchpad:
    -- Click Start.
    -- Click Control Panel.
    -- Open Device Manager.
    -- Uninstall the touchpad drivers.
    -- Restart the computer.
-- Download and Install the ALPS Touch Touchpad Drivers.

Updating the BIOS to the latest version can also be tried. Click here to get the latest version of BIOS for the system.

**NOTE: Few things to ensure before updating the Bios is, the Ac Adapter should be plugged in and the battery should have minimum of 15% charge. No other external peripherals should be connected to the computer. Please ensure that the Bios update should not be interrupted else it would damage the motherboard.

Please write back if you have any further questions.
