Upgrading notebook
Hello,
I would to inquire how can i upgrade my Dell Vostro 1500 notebook processor. For the past few years i have maxed out all the common notebook component like ram now i used is Corsair 4gb and Hard drive i used is Western Digital 500gb. Now i would to upgrade my processor. I have already check my chipset is Intel PM965 which could support variety of processor. Currently im using is the intel mobile core 2 duo T5470 at 1.60Ghz. It seems to be quite slow with today processing power needed. I have already called dell hotline but there is no category for my Vostro.

I just would like to know the for upgrading my processor.
I have already check the X7800 ( 2.8Ghz ) could match my chipset. The problem is where to find this processor. I have thought about new notebook rather than just buying processor, however if i buy a new notebook, which is Intel Centrino 2 P8600 ( 2.6Ghz ) but the hard drive is 250gb and the ram is 3gb DDR2 only. It is a waste if i still buying a notebook using DDR2 since now is the beginning of DDR3 for notebook. I would rather upgrade the processor rather than having 2 notebook.

eBay is where I get my mobile processors. I got a T9500 to replace an old T5750 for about $200.

I had a Studio 1535, which also used the Santa Rosa/PM965 chipset.

The cost ? High. I don't think dell would don that. If you plan on doing this on your own, note that it will be hard to buy a single mobile cpu, they are usually only sold in volumes to manufacturers.
