UXGA Screen Problems

Hiya.

I have an inspiron I8200, and after I had replaced my LCD (which was damaged), a small bright white spot is visible near the centre of the screen. Also, I can see slight 'shadows' or dark patches on the lcd on the left side and slightly through the centre.

Are these symptoms of a fault with the UXGA Screen??

Thanks!

If the problems weren't they before, and you replaced the LCD yourself, I'd say you installed it badly. There's a small light along the bottom of the screen, and if there's extra space between the white background and the screen in one place, it will become darker there, and if it's closer, it's brighter. Try re-installing the LCD

I've had a few slight patches on my display since it was new, but they haven't bothered me enough to try for a warranty claim. Surprisingly I seem to be one of the few people to have received an I8100 with absolutely no dead pixels on their UXGA displays and I still don't have any (after 2.5 years) so I'm happy! (At least, at the time the I8100 came out there were quite a few posts about displays with dead pixels. Dell's 'official' line at the time was that anything up to about 10 dead pixels was 'normal' and would not warrant a repair/replacement)

Unless the spots really bother you and/or it was an official repair I wouldn't worry about it.

Raise the issue straightaway with them - any repairs they have made should carry their own warranty, although that's usually quite short - 3 months or so.

hiya. Thanks for the replies. Actually, the warranty finished, so an insurance company had to arrange for repairs. looks like they made a mess of it! Not only the white spot problem and dark patches, but its not an ultrasharp ASV!!
