Weird Sound / Video Codex problem...

Hi, i've got an ongoing problem with internet sound. you tube / myspace etc don't give me any sound since i tried installing some freaky codec thing to sort out a problem with a pentax camera. does anybody know how to reset the codecs in windows XP pro....i'm going CRAZY!!! thanks and some (legal) music to the person that helps me Mark

    This might not work but you could try System Restore.

    Re-installing your Sigmatel audio driver might help.

    hi, i re-installed both the audio and video drivers....nothing changed...

    is 'System Restore' a tool included on the install discs?

    In Windows XP, you go to Start/Help & Support/System Restore, and tick 'Restore my computer to an earlier time'. Try to get the Registry back to a time before the problem first occurred.

    This might not help you because it only undoes changes in the Registry.

    Hi Jimco,

    thanks for all your help but my restore points only go back to a week or so ago...

    hmm....maybe a big fat re-install of the whole thing is needed....balls!
