The wirelss card is under the KBD, you may need to look at it to see what it is. Have a look at all the Dell drivers for your model, it may not have come with the machine which is why you may need to look. If you dont have the driver CD, there may be other drivers you will need to install.

By KBD, you mean Keyboard I assume.

I have looked under the KBD. It says PCT2304WT. But this is a dial modem isn't it ?

 

Is this the component that is responsible for the wireless connection ?, seems odd to me.

 

I have never used this modem since I have this computer. Always direct LAN connection.

 

Is this what I shoudl update or should I look for something else ?

The wireless is around 50 x 60mm. The modem is half the size and held in with 2 screws. The wireless will have 2 co-axial cables going to it. Look for a brand and model, and see if you can find drivers. it may not be Dell supplied.

I wish I could take a picture of the computer because I can't find what you're asking for.

 

I will try to describe what I do see and this way you might be able to pin point me to what I need to find.

 

If I turn the laptop upside down, keyboard facing me, the closest thing to me is the battery.

Next, above the battery is a large rectangle with 2 screws. I removed the screws and opened to rectangle cover and found the modem. However, this is the dial up modem. I did find the right driver for it. So now I have only one unidentified component in the device manager. "Network Adapter". Although the other 3Com network adapter is listed right.

 

Anyway, going forward on detailing the back of the lap top, there are no additional covers I can see. There are 2 labels to the side of the big rectagle I described before.

 

the one details:

DELL c400

Model PP03L

ref number ...

IC Class ...

then all kinds of symbols, Made in China, Dell LBL P/N .... that's it.

 

The other label:

PCTell PCT2304WT modem (which is the one I found under the rectangle).

ANATEL, argentina and again Dell LBL p/N ....

 

Regarding coexial cables ..... I can't see any.

 

Maybe I need to install a wireless software ??? Cause I can't see any now ...

By under the KBD, that is what I mean. You have to lift / remove the KBD. From " support tolls " lower left, you should be able to find a manual and the drivers. The first thing I would try, is make a Folder with all the wireless drivers your model came with and see if Windows will find the right one. Then you can find out what it is in Device manager for next time. If no luck, have a look at it and look for Brand model p / n and then you should be able to find the right driver.

It took time but I got the basta.... :-)

 

Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG. I had to remove the keyboard and I would never ever have thought about it without your help.
