The actual whole thread for the fix for power save mode problems with DVI can be found at this address.  This gives a fix for both ATI users and NVidia users.

    http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=dim_monitor&message.id=33721&c=us&l=en&cs=19&s=dhs

It seems Dell monitors have had this problem and others like it for a long time.  This is the fix they used to provide for people, but I believe they have stopped even giving out the necesarry files for the NVidia fix (there may be some people in the thread who can send it to those who want it though).  At this point I think it is probably just worth sending back your monitor as many times as it takes to get one that works.....and hope it doesn't start to fail after warranty.  Thats my plan at this point.

A few things to point out.  Most people with the power mode problem seem to only have it when using DVI (In other Words monitor still works in VGA).  Also they see on the screen a power mode display....such as "Power Mode press Any key".  They just can't seem to exit the power mode.  My own monitor just goes completely black/blank w/ LED light still green.  This occurs with both DVI and VGA for me.  I can get a picture again if I turn of monitor for some period of time, but will blank again soon after.  So I believe this may not actually be a power mode problem, but just another problem with some dell flatscreens.

If Anyone knows or has suggestions for a Fix on the complete blanking/blackout of a monitor within an hour of startup for both VGA and DVI connection.  Would you please throw a reply on to this thread.  Or if any of the moderators or dell support people want to throw in any information they have that would be great as well.

    thanks,
