2001FP Ordered yesterday, when does it ship?

Hi all..  I ordered the 2001FP yesterday and on the website it says that it usually ships the same day.  I thought, great, I'll pay some extra to have it shipped overnight..

Well, unfortuantely the Order Status screen show the monitor is still "InProduction"..  When I call and talk to the Customer service people, they are telling me that they are "still building the monitor"..  LOL ok..

Can anyone tell me what the turn around time is from ordering to shipping on this monitor?  I'm getting pretty frustrated here because no one at Dell seems to know and they just want to tell me that it will ship on the estimated ship date, which is late next week..  SIGH!!!

    Hi, Wintrmte.

When I ordered my 2001FP, I got it in 2 days and, after it was dielivered, "Order Status" still said it was "In Transit". Another time, I ordered a Plextor DVD burner from Dell, got it the next day, and Dell's "Order Status" still had it "In Production". Dell is notorioulsy poor with up-dating this info. As a practical matter, your 2001FP will ship from a warehouse location that's somewhere in your region of the country. You'll probably have it tomorrow.

Good luck with your new monitor. Its well worth the wait.

    Tom

Over the past couple of years, I've purchased 6 or 7 systems/peripherals from Dell. Each time, I've used the 3-5 day UPS ground shipping service and each time Dell has gotten the item to me within 3 or less days. So, in that regard, Dell has been very good. I've just learned not to rely too heavily on the accuracy of their on-line "Order Status" nor on what their customer service people tell me on the phone b/c they can't tell you anything more than what's on their website (when you call, that's where they look).

Best of luck with your new monitor,

    Tom

Thanks for the follow-up and the light of hope..  I think the most frustrating part of my experience so far with Dell (and this being my first order) is that no one in the Customer service area can seem to tell me what in the heck is going on.  Every person I talk to just repeats the information on the order status web page!

One guy even transferred me to the Dell operator because he thought she could help me.. LOL!

Oh well, after this experience, I will probably look elsewhere for further purchases.

I was wondering how the new replacement is? Was your problem fixed with the new monitor?

Sorry Wintrmte that I posted in in your thread.

Thanks ortleeb. I really want to order that monitor but I'm hesitant because of all the posts I read about it. I have the 1900FP and except for one bad pixel (which I have to look for to see it) it's super. With the specs of the 2001FP I can imagine how much better it is.

    Hi, ty.

The issues are the same but not nearly as bad...its really become more of a minor annoyance than anything else. I've been following a thread in the Rage3D forum on it and I guess ATi is looking into the issue since it affects all brands of LCD's.

    Take care,

    Tom

Ty, the 2001FP is a gorgeous monitor. These issues barely rise to the level of an annoyance (I've got 2 kids so maybe my annoyance threshold is higher than others). They generally happen only on boot-up and only maybe 1 out of 10 times and they don't happen with all 2001FP's. Anyway, don't let what you've been reading prevent you from getting one. Dell Outlet is selling refurbs for $698...great deal...I'd get one but I just don't need another monitor.

    Talk to you later,

    Tom
