UNSOLVED
2005FPW Problem
I have a Leadtek PX6800GS TDH (nVidia GeForce) graphics card.
My monitor has been a problem to switch on for some time now.
This happens when my computer has been off, or when it has been left alone for 8+ hours.
The backlight is off. I switch the monitor off then on, and the backlight flashes but goes back off. The monitor does not seem to be awake.
This is happening with DVI input, VGA, both and neither.
If I take all the cables out and power cycle (on/off/on/off) then it is possible to wake the monitor up - the backlight stays on, the menus are accessible and the self-test graphic is visible.
But when I plug the DVI cable back in, the screen goes dead again. The backlight goes off and the green "2" light turns orange.
I did see the "Monitor in Power Saving Mode" message but the backlight/monitor were off for most of the time!
Like I said, I tried switching to the VGA input and it did not wake up the monitor.
Is this the classic "DVI stuck in power saving mode" problem?
I tried the "DVI Recovery" thing.
I see it tries to write the first 8 bytes of the EDID.
I see the value it *should* be written to. When the program reads the EDID data, it is already this value.
Could anybody offer any advice on this?
Would switching to an ATI card solve the problem?
This is a *big* dissapointment :(
Edit: It took about 30 mins of power cycling and messing about to get it working this time :\
