2208wfp resolution question

I have Dells 22 inch monitor and it says that its optimal resolution is 1680 by 1050, but my laptop doesn't have that as an option to pick. I have updated my intel graphics acclerator, and there was no change. So does this just mean that my old laptop is too old to be able to put out that type of resolution or is there a way that I can achieve the optimal resolution?

Here's my guess.  Your intergrated video card does not support that high of a graphic resolution.  I wouldn't say your laptop is too old, but you would need to get a beefier video card to support that high of a resolution.  Your monitor will only display what your graphics chip is capable of, so either check out an actual video card like the Go! series or something similar.

Since I don't know anything about your computer besides it uses the onboard graphics card, this is all an opinion.
