I think one problem is the DVI transmitter on your card can't handle the bandwidth required by the 2407. This would explain the inability to display the native resolution. The 2407WFP pushes the limits of single link DVI and many older nVIDIA cards have trouble with these high resolutions over DVI. Not being able to see the POST screens could be something else though.

I found that same thing out as well with the 2407WFP and my D600 over DVI. The 1920x1200 mode was actually squished horitontally so there were 3" black borders on the sides. Worked with Dell support most of one day on it with no affect (updated BIOS, updated display drivers, BIOS settings, monitor settings, display properties, etc). Couldn't make it better so I connected it via the SVGA cable out of frustration. Worked like a charm. Looks just as crisp as via DVI.

After I got things all set up with the 2407 via SVGA and a 2001FP via DVI then I found on these forums a reference to a possible fix. I never tried it because my setup works just fine for me now and I don't want to screw with it. What I recall is that you need to go into Display Properties in Windows, click the 'Settings' tab, click the 'Advanced' button, then go to the ATI 'Options' tab and uncheck a box that says "Reduce DVI frequency on high-res displays". What they said was happening is that the video driver was reducing the signal to 50Hz instead of the normal 60Hz and this was not well received by the 2407WFP monitor. I do see that option on my properties and it is checked, so this very likely might be accurate. Give it a try if you want.

As a side note, a 2405FPW worked just fine over DVI with my D600 and a colleague's D610 worked just fine with the 2407WFP via DVI. I was about ready to swap monitors with her when I got the SVGA to work...

I have the same problem.
No display using DVI cable.
Works fine using VGA port.
Works fine using VGA cable on the DVI port (with an adapter).

My video card is an nVidia 6600 GT with the latest nvidia drivers.
I installed the monitor drivers given on the Dell CD.

When I plug both cables, Windows XP sees correctly the 2 monitors, I can configure clone mode, but still no display through the DVI port.

The problems occurs even in 800x600.

I need to make it work.
I'll change my PC soon (for an HP Pavilion Slimline) and it will have no VGA port, only DVI.
