Just got this beauty. colors/ viewing angles are amazing

but! mouse input lag on desktop is beyond words. I honestly can't work like that.

any solutions? (half-solutions, advices, etc.)

also any calibrations advice would be more than welcome!

(like, lowering sharpness to 43% via softmccs was amazing in terms of improving image quality)

And I would really appreciate and dell officials advice on this: If i reside in Canada and have no proof of purchase, would is still be possible to update screen to a01 revision? (flashing via softmccs maybe)

And also when and how can I obtain that firmware?

That's strange.

Input Lag exists (even if I never noticed it) but it should not be such a problem in Windows.

What kind of mouse do you have ?

Is acceleration activated ?

 

About Image quality, here are my two-cents...

 

Of course the best is to have your screen hardware calibrated. But if you don't have a calibrator here are some suggestions: 

 

- use gamma MAC and not PC.

- use Custom RGB with value between 80 and 89. My settings are 83/82/89 but they are for my specific 2408 and may not be suitable for yours.

- keep a low brightness (5-10) and a medium contrast (50).

- use a color profile for color-aware application(Photoshop, Firefox 3, etc.): 2408WFP.ICM

That's a really low brightness.  Why do you set it so low?  Mine's set at about 60 with contrast around 50.

Well, actually the brightness setting depends on your use and ambient light condition.

I work in a dark room and my eyes are quite sensitive.

In these conditions I found a low brightness makes text easier for my eyes...

the thing is, I am using dual monitor setup. The second one is samsung 245bw. Colors and viewing angles are clearly inferior to 2408wfp, but no mouse lag. And honestly, I'd rather live with inaccurate colors/horrible angles than with the mouse lag..

 

Plus I'm in quite a situation here - I bought 2408 through a local ad. It was new in box, but no dell order number and no place to return it to.

 

Moreover it has this blue-ish tint to the image.

dell officials. please reply regarding possibility of upgrading to a01 revision for my situation

because if it's not possible, I'm getting rid of the screen right now for pretty much anything I can get.

I have zero mouse lag on my my 2408, I would check your settings and drivers

quad-core, vista x64, 4gb ram, 8800 gtx, mx revolution

very very latest drivers

plus, I'm saying I have a dual monitor setup.

I have NO mouse lag on 245bw and ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous amount of mouse lag

on 2408wfp.

Unusable for me. Plus now I can clearly see blue-ish tint all over the screen.

I honestly don't know what to do.

I doubt you're going to get any help from dell without proof of purchase.  If you bought it from a friend you should do a ownership transfer so the warranty will continue with you (http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/change_order/tag_transfer?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&redirect=1).  I'm not, but that may only apply to PC systems.

 

If you bought it from a B&M you'll probably have to take it up with them.

 

My suggestion would be to call or use Live Chat for a quicker answer.  I wouldn't hold my breath though.

I bought through a local ad from an individual.

Monitor was new-in-box, but no dell order number..

When I asked seller regarding order number he told me that he received screen as a gift, so he doesn't have any proof of purchase.

Was I dumb not to buy from dell or a retailer? Oh yeah.

So.. Do I have any chances for exchanging it or "tough luck, buddy"?

And if exchange is possible, what's the procedure?
