What ever your personal preferences are.
Factory defaults vary monitor to monitor.
This looks like a very good start to me.

You could go a tad higher or lower with the RGB adjustments to your taste in white point.”

desktop mode
brightness: 40
color adjustment: pc custom color
red adjust: 80 Drop this to 77 in games so skies look more natural
green adjust: 87
blue adjust: 90

Some like PC Blue for everyday work.

If a pro, use professional calibration equipment.

All the facts,
I did the same settings as you for calibrating, i got banding when doing the gray tests with monitortest.exe (Softcare Monitor Test i think, im at work now :) ).
I just got the darker gray section who got banding, the rest of the page is ok. Its only 2-3 inches from the border of the screen in the darkest section, depending witch one you choose from the 4 gray test.
And when i put the gamma back to 1.0 with nvidia driver, it really improve the result, still got banding but hard to see.
Can you do a test and let me know if it happens to you?

The gamma change to 1.16 was mikea423's.

I keep my gamma at 1.0 and I do see that changing the gamma setting in the nVidia settings does create banding and gray shades are sacrificed also.

Same results here as you saw using nVidia v84.21 driver, you described the issue very well.

See this thread, as I see minor banding issues are starting to pop up in the A03's, at least they are very minor.

If I don't see any input in that thread, I will assume it's not an issue, as it is minor. Compared to the bad banding in the A02's the A03's eliminate 99% of it.
The reason for that thread is to attempt to list as many obscure issues that you find that may cause minor banding so we can get the percentage of banding elimination up to 99.9%, if possible.
