Cannot Display This Video Mode
Background
Dell Dimension 2350 running Windows XP Pro with e151FPp monitor
We run a DOS based database application. When we got the first of our Dimension 2350s the application ran fine in full screen mode. However when we got another machine 4-5months later it didn't and just displayed "Cannot display this video mode". After discussions with Dell and Intel the following actions were taken:

Is this monitor using a DVI or an analog connection?

I must display my ignorance here and say I don't know other than the monitors are directly connected to the 15 hole video connector on the back of the machines. On the 2350 the video controller is integrated (Intel integrated AGP graphics) so the video connector is part of the main back plate rather than attached to a seperate video card.

However when we got another machine 4-5months later it didn't and just displayed "Cannot display this video mode". After discussions with Dell and Intel the following actions were taken:
1. Upgraded Bios to A001
2. Upgraded the Intel(R) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV graphics controller
and the problem was solved. However, when the next Dimension arrived it also wouldn't dsiplay a full screen DOS window so the same actions were taken. Alas they had no effect . All the other standard tricks of adjusting display properties have been tried but to no avail. Any suggestions will be gratefully received.
On a slight aside when I downloaded the Bios upgrades I was offerd the choice of either a bios update programme I could add to MS-DOS boot disk or a programme that contained an image of a boot disk with an autorun version of the same bios update programme. I chose the later. However when you boot from the disk the programme runs without updating the bios. A snag for someone at Dell to look at? The bios update programme when run from a MS-DOS boot disk did exactly what it was suppose to do.
