Corrupted EDID

Does anyone know how to reprogram monitor EDID.  My E2210H doesn't report monitor information and supported modes on the D-SUB connector due to which systems are showing this as a generic nPnP monitor with the default resolution.  Monitor reports correct information through DVI-D connector though.  I tried to reprogram the monitor using PowerStrip utility without much success yet.   I'm wondering if anyone else has faced this EDID corruption issue and solved it.  For information, I performed a monitor self test and reset the settings to factory defaults.

I can use the monitor on windows by selecting a resolution manually with the dell driver.  But, it doesn't work properly on OSX and hence trying to correct the monitor information.

Hi Zohaib, thank you for the pointer.  In fact I saw that thread, purchased PowerStrip and tried to rewrite the EDID before posting this.  I was not successful in getting the PowerStrip to update EDID due to incompatibilities of graphics cards. I tried on two machines.   I was exploring if any one (including Dell) has any other solutions

    Hi jjaimon,

Although I cannot guide on programing aspects, I found the below mentioned thread:

    Re-writing EDID in 2007WFP

You might find this interesting and useful.

    Hi jjaimon,

I am sorry I could not be of much help in this case however, when using ‘PowerStrip’ or any other such program, please be careful and seek an expert programmer’s advice. If the EDID is damaged or corrupted during programming it will not be covered by the warranty (if the monitor is in warranty).

    Good luck.

If you're getting correct info via DVI, then it can't be a corrupt EDID (?). I would try another D-SUB cable. This article might be of interest, it shows how to reflash the EDID, assumng it's corrupted. You do need an edid file from an identical monitor though. Or you can try to reconstruct it yourself.

Each input will necessarily have a seperate and different EDID, so it perfectly possible to have a valid DVI EDID and a corrupt analog VGA EDID. An EDID specifies the type of input signal required from the graphics controller so they would never be the same.
