Dell 2407FPW availability

Dear forum users,

I wonder if any of you have recently received a 2407FPW monitor. I ordered two of these on Jan. 3 and they still have not been shipped. Is this normal?

Thank you,

Note: I realize that this forum is for tech-talk, but I do not know where else to post this message.

I would contact Dell customer service.

I did call customer service the first day I ordered the monitors. The first representative I talked to told me that this kind of order usually ships within two days. Knowing that, I called to do a follow-up a couple days later and was told that it should ship shortly.

Walking by the Dell kiosk one day, I asked a representative and he told me the same thing; monitors ship quickly.

At the end of last week, another customer service call revealed that it was arriving by boat on January 11. And today, another person told me it was delayed 8 more days (no matter how I asked why it was delayed, the representative evaded the question).

You must know that they are Dell Canada representative, since I'm in Canada...

Is there any place, either in Canada or the US, to get the actual date my order will be shipped? I no longer trust what Dell Canada's customer support service tells me, as they have given me what seems to be inaccurate information up to now, and because I have spent literally hours on hold. Lastly, is there any way to speed up shipping since the order suffered so much delay?

    Thank you,
    Max

I asked this question on Jan. 11 (with the customer service contact form) and still no response.

I HOPE the monitor will be ok with no defect because I don't want to waste time on the phone with dell like this guy did:

It would be hard to think that Dell would be out of power cords! ;)

But could someone enlighten us: what kind of preparation do monitors need before shipping?

I'm going to give it another week. If I don't hear anything by then I'm going to see if I can cancel my order. Waiting 3-4 weeks for a monitor is ridiculous.

    Hi Max,

I also ordered mine from Dell Canada on Jan. 3 and am having the same problem. My online order status still hasn't progressed past the "Order Confirmed" stage - ie. it hasn't been shipped. My estimated delivery day still shows as yesterday.

I called a Dell Canada rep yesterday and didn't get anywhere. The conversation went something like:

Dell Rep: "Well they may have to wait on some of the components to build it."
    Me: "It's a monitor."
Dell Rep: "Oh yes. It is. Well there are components in that too."

At that point I pressed for another estimated delivery date, but got no further. So I still don't know what's going on.

I have no idea if Dell receives the monitors pre-assembled or not. My guess would be they're short of panels. Those they definitely don't make themselves. I just pray they don't wind up sticking bad panels into the monitors.

Wow, that guy must have lived such frustrations!

Thinking of quality, what is Dell's policy on dead/stuck pixels?

    Thank you,
    Max
