I don't understand.... Why was my post moved to another forum without any input - as in suggestions or advice ?  The post was relative to a new - 1-12-08 - Monitor which I had to purchase from Dell to replace the P992 which came with my Dim. 8200 system approx. 6 years ago...  No input in that forum either.  Help, please and thank you ??

If you have already increased the font size then you are going to have to lower the resolution. The higher the resolution, the smaller everything is. The new monitor has a higher "optimum" resolution than the old one but that can be a problem if your eyes cant see it. Try lowering the resolution until you can read the type. Right-click on your desktop, choose "properties" and then click on the "settings" tab. Use the slider to lower the resolution to something you can see.

In reference to bigger fonts in the windows file, menu, toolbar, drop down lists, etc......and.....

For a crisp, clear viewing of windows menus, drop down lists, etc on your 20" wide screen monitor AND in larger print so it is easier on your eyes to read try the following:

    STEP 1

Right click on your desktop and click on properties (this brings up the display settings box)

    Click on the settings tab

Set your screen resolution to the highest (best for your monitor, video adapter, etc) using the slider bar

Choose the highest color quality for your applications, etc

Click on advanced (a new box opens)

Under DPI setting use Normal size 96 DPI

(you can try different settings later, you may have it at 120 now, change it to 96)

    Click OK

For any boxes that open and 1) ask for your confirmation to change the display settings or 2) ask you to restart your computer to apply the new settings.....click yes or OK to all of them now

Your computer will restart and apply the new settings....this is only STEP 1, now proceed with STEP 2

    STEP 2

Right click on your desktop and click on properties

    Click on the Appearance tab

In the lower left corner of the box it says Font size:

(If your print is really small looking in the menus this is probably set to normal)

Click on the blue arrow to activate the drop down list and choose Large Fonts or choose Extra Large Fonts

    Click Apply

    Click OK

You should get a blue Windows box in the middle of your screen while the sytem applies the new settings

You can try STEP 2 with the 3 different Font sizes, Normal, Large, and Extra Large.  Each time you switch, open a windows application so you can click on the File Menu Edit Toolbar drop down menus and see which one looks best for your eyes :smileytongue:

You can also try different Screen Resolution and DPI settings for other appearance factors, but the one outlined above seems to work best for changing the appearance of the Windows drop down menu lists.
