I'm searching for a good 'off-white' Window Text screen....
I'm searching for a good 'off-white' Window Text screen.
My new XPS with 2007FP came with a glaring white window text screen {settings: Hue:160/Sat:0/Lum:240}. I've searched Microsoft - no help. I've experimented with changing the 'custom settings' Hue/Sat/Lum in the Display Properties.
I'm currently 'trying' Hue:40/Sat:217/Lum:230.
Has anyone 'gone there - done that' with this settings and come up with a good 'non-glare off-white screen that works and provides a good text background?

- 'gpro,'Your reply caused me to realize I'd failed to mention my monitor connection was via DVI-D {brightness & contrast controls not available}. a VGA connection would have made this correction of a 'bright' screen very easy.
I don't know any way to 'dim up' the screen other than tweak the custom color settings - james - no brightness control either?? I know the documentation is not always accurate, but on that page I linked it says:
'Brightness adjusts the luminance of the backlight', and
'NOTE: When using DVI source, the contrast adjustment is not available.'
I have an WFP and i can adjust Brightness on DVI.
What graphics adapter do you have?

Only the 'Contrast' isn't available when using DVI. It didn't say ''Brightness' wasn't available. Yes, I was able to access the backlighting/brightness control. I'm trying '43' as we speak {it was set at 50} My other LCD {a Sony} used with a Dell 4100 {Win2000}. That monitor DIDN'T have either Brightness or Contrast controls available when using DVI-I.
