monitor acting weird
A couple of days ago my monitor (a p991) started a very slight flicker. After doing this for a while it will then degauss on its own. It does this if I am in a program or just staring at the desktop. Nothing has been placed close to it and no software or settings have been changed to possibly cause this....any ideas?

I have already changed the refresh rate. It isn't the flickering I am concerned about...it is the automatic degaussing it is doing that is the biggest concern.459

Thanks again but I have done that also, plus no settings have been changed to need to be reset. Even when not connected to the computer the monitor still does this. I am thinking it is dying very quickly as it is getting worse.459

Try pushing in the reset button located on the front of the monitor to the left.
Overview
Use the control buttons on the front of the monitor to adjust the characteristics of the image being displayed. As you use these buttons to adjust the controls, an on-screen display (OSD) shows their numeric values as they change.
Button Name
Description
Reset button
Resets the adjustments to the factory settings.
Auto Sizing and Centering button
Adjusts the size and position of the images automatically.
Brightness buttons
Adjust the picture brightness. Operate as the
buttons when adjusting other items.
Menu button
Displays the MENU OSD.
Contrast buttons
Adjust the contrast. Operate as the
buttons when adjusting other items.
Power switch and indicator (LED)
Turns the monitor on and off. The indicator lights up green when the monitor is on, and lights up orange when the monitor is in Power Saving mode.
NOTE: The Auto Sizing and Centering function is intended for use with a computer running Windows or similar graphical user interface software that provides a full-screen picture. It may not work properly if the background color is dark or if the input picture does not fill the screen to the edges (such as an MS-DOS prompt).

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
Try changing the adapter refresh rate. To change the refresh rate you can go into the Display Properties in the Control Panel. From there click Settings | Advanced | Adapter or Monitor. You can change the refresh rate for both.You will then see where to make the change. It may take trying different settings to get the flicker to stop.
