Desktop space isn't a problem, so I don't really mind the larger P1130, and I've had good luck with Trinitrons in the past.
Perusing this forum I see a lot of people like the 2001FP, in part because it looks nifty, and in part because it's lighter and has a much smaller footprint. So long as you don't have any dead pixels or notice any blurriness.
And of course, the 2001FP is more expensive, but if it's worth it, I'd be willing to shell out more money.
Can anyone offer any opinions, advice or sage counsel about these two monitors?
I can't speak specifically about the P1130 but the 2001FP bests any CRT I've ever had or seen. Image quality is fantastic and, with the 16ms response time, there's no ghosting or blurring. Shell out the extra $...you won't regret it.
It could depend on your primary use of the monitor why you'd want one over the other. Also, either way you need a decent video card to drive those monitors, and if you get the 2001FP you should look into a card with DVI output to get the most out of your monitor!

Well, I'll be using the PC for a little bit of everything, including games and bringing work home.
I think you will be happy with the 2001FP, I know I am! It may take some getting used to, especially the change to the higher resolution, but once your eyes adjust you should be fine! Order and enjoy!

Well, I took the plunge and purchased the 2001FP. I'll post my feedback right here in a couple of weeks.
I recently purchased a Dell XPS system and elected to go with the 2001FP. I have been very happy with it. I have it sitting right next to my 6 year old Gateway 19 " Triniton CRT and have no regrets in my purchase. I am running th ATI 9800 256 XT.
Best of luck with you purchase, let us know....

I have the same blurring problem as airjrdn. LCD technology is not good enough for hardcore gamers at 16ms, unless you are happy with 60fps. I know some people that can't even see the difference between vsync on and vsync off with their CRTs - the 2001fp is good for those types of people that can't tell the difference between high quality graphic performance and mediocre performance. If you are the type of gamer that needs to play at max fps with vsync on, then save yourself the trouble and don't buy an LCD monitor with mediocre 16ms response times. Wait until the average response times hit 12ms, then check back. Be wary of taking advice from all the noob gamers out there that don't know any better.
I'd definitely go with the CRT if you are going to do any gaming. Also go for the CRT if you prefer any other resolution besides 1600x1200 - with the LCD you are stuck with that.
