I bought the S2340T multitouch display a month or two ago, everything was working great but the past week I've noticed that when I move or tilt the display on its mount I get the Windows notification that a device has been removed. Sometimes I immediately get the reconnected device sound and sometimes I don't. After some testing in device manager and with certain apps I have found out that the webcam is the device that is being DC'd when the monitor is adjusted. As well, the picture quality when using the camera shows "artifacts" that would appear when there is a bad connection. I have a hunch that the connector in the display to the camera is loose and that tilting the display is pulling on the internal connector just enough to cause the device to fail.
I have looked online and no one has had the same issue as me so far it appears but I would like to know if I should be sending this in to a service center and if it is covered (it was an $800 display it better be!). On a side note I have checked the USB 3.0 cable and it is not loose and all other monitor features work fine.
As well if anyone has any input on this please post, as well my system's video hardware and OS are listed below:
Win8 Pro with Radeon 6990 (DisplayPort for monitor connection and USB 3.0 for additional features)
I would like to have the following details from you so that we can proceed further in resolving your issue.
Retail or Online Store = Purchase date = Email = Name = Shipping Address = Phone = Monitor Model = Monitor Part number = Monitor 20 digit PPID number =
Please send me a private message with all the details. To send a private message, click on my name and select start conversation.
Thank you, I am also a tech support agent so I try to troubleshoot as much as I can before contacting other support teams :P
Anyways, the USB 3 cable linking the monitor to my PC is an 'upstream' cable that came with the display. I do not have another on hand at the moment so I did the next best thing and tried other USB 3 ports on the PC as well as cleaning the cable end and inspecting it for any physical damage. As I suspected there was nothing out of the ordinary and the second port on my PC produces the same results. The touch panel input utilizes this cable and I have never had a problem with that feature ever; as well, the webcam only cuts out when the top part of the display is adjusted, the base of the monitor (which contains the inputs etc) is stationary at all times so a loose cable should not be the cause.
