U2520D, seems not sharp and not so bright anymore

I noticed that my U2520D seems a bit less bright and less sharp then before. I have made adjustments through the monitor OSD as well as through the connected iMac. I am wondering whether it needs a firmware upgrade? It currently has M3B101. The U2520D is only two years old. I found the instructions and tried to do the firmware upgrade and it just hung and didn't achieve anything as far as I can tell. Help?

Click the blue DELL-Cares username. Their profile page will appear. On the right click, "Send this user a private message". They will need the private U2520D Service Tag and 20 digit serial number. Check the rear label.

You should open the U2520D Menu- Others. Then run Factory Reset.

The only firmware update I see for the U2520D was the macOS M3B104. When you downloaded (Dell_U2520D_FWUpdate_M3B104_macOS.zip) and unzipped it, there should have been a PDF walkthrough on how to install the firmware update. Did you read through that PDF?

I sent the private message as requested. I did follow the instructions -- except that I didn't use a laptop, I used an iMac so that inherently it had a built in screen and the Dell was a secondary screen.
