U2520D, Thinkpad T480s, USB downstream port usage

I have a new U2520D connected via USB Type-C cable to a Thinkpad T480s (using the cable that came with the monitor).

Video works fine, however, the USB downstream ports (both type A and C) do not work. They seem to provide power but no data connection (tried it with a Logitech mouse, a Jabra headset, and a USB keyboard).

When I connect the laptop to the monitor via USB 3 (type A) to USB C cable, the USB downstream ports work just fine.

Laptop runs Win10 and shows no error messages.

The monitor is great, but the USB hub is annoying as it means I still require a dedicated USB hub to connect peripherals.

@olistrut  Sounds like a USB-C mode negotiation issue.  I don't see any firmware updates for the U2520D as of this writing, but have you checked for any updates on your T480s?  The simplest way to do that is using the Lenovo Vantage app, or you can download updates manually from Lenovo's site.

I had the same issue...With the cable which comes with the monitor, charging and displej works, but USB hub is not working. With second cable which I found at home the charging and USB HUB works but displej doesn't. And finally I found a third cable, and with this cable everything works fine!
