U5226KW, KVM not working
I’ve recently setup a U5226KW monitor and I’m struggling with the inbuilt KVM function.
I’ve got 3 computers connected to it.
- MacBook Pro (connected via thunderbolt)
- Mac Studio (connected via display port and usb-c on monitor to usb-a on computer)
- Windows PC (connected via HDMI and usb-c)
Connected to the monitor I have a Mac keyboard, Mac trackpad and USB mouse.
I have the usb outs assigned to the relevant display outs in the monitor.
My expectation of the KVM is that if I switch to, for example, the Thunderbolt Display then the mouse and keyboard should then follow over to that display. However, this doesn’t happen most of the time. Most of the time the USB ports do not seem to be live after switching as I can see the light on the mouse turns off. Intermittently it does seem to work but this may just be when it’s the first machine I’m using.
Are my assumptions wrong about how this works, could there be something wrong with my settings, or is this just a feature of the monitor that’s buggy?

* Enter the U5226KW Menu OSD
* Go to USB- MacBook Pro (connected via Thunderbolt)-> Thunderbolt port
- Mac Studio (connected via DisplayPort and USB-C on monitor to USB-A on computer) =
DP 1 assign to USB-C 2
- Windows PC (connected via HDMI and USB-C on monitor to USB-A on computer) =
HDMI 1 assign to USB-C 3#IWork4Dell

I am also having issues with KVM, it sometimes doesn't work and then it works after I reboot my Mac. I guess it's some bug that it loses connectivity and is fixed after rebooting.

Macbook models are:
- Macbook Pro M1- Macbook Air M4
The monitor is U3425WE

Ah yes. I did mean U5226KW.
The firmware is M2T103. I updated it after recieving the monitor.
I've read the manual you've linked to. My understanding of it is that I've set it up correctly. "Setting the KVM USB Switch" sounds like it covers setting it up with PIP, which I don't want to do; I just want to switch inputs and have the keyboard, mouse etc transfer. "Setting the Auto KVM" I've done in accordance with what it says in the manual and the manual does seem to indicate it should work as I'm expecting it to.
But even what I would think to be the simplest case, where I've got peripherals connected to the USB ports on the monitor and the laptop connected via thunderbolt doesn't seem to work. The peripherals show no signs of life.

For direct Dell Technical Support Monday through Friday, Dell GHN (Get Help Now) chat technical support must verify the ownership and warranty status. Click the blue "Get Help Now" on the right to start a private live chat session. Share the private Service Tag with them and all your troubleshooting. This will in turn generate a unique Technical Support case for your unique Service Tag.
Assume you meant the U5226KW?
