I have a pool dedicated for VADP backups. The target devices are data domain devices dedicated to vadp and they are attached to a dedicated storage node.
I have a backup group called "VADP" that backs up to the dedicated VADP pool. All vms have a destination pool of "VADP"
Right now, the "data source" for the backup group VADP is my main backup pool called "ddpool".
When I try to change that so that the backup group VADP is actually a data source for the pool VADP... the client file indexes all fail. They seem to try and back up to the networker server and not to the storage node:
39077:save: error, no matching devices for save of client `nwserver'; check storage nodes, devices or pools
How can I force the client file indexes for members of group "VADP" to go to the dedicated storage node and not to the NW server ?
What happens now is that the backups are stored in the "VADP" pool but CFI are stored in my main "ddpool". I'd like everything to be stored in the "VADP" pool. Do I need to create another data domain device for VADP that would be attached to my networker server and make it a target device to the VADP pool or there is a simplier solution ?
The NetWorker server's client file index and bootstrap save sets can only be saved to a volume mounted locally on the NetWorker server (by design).
I recommend you to create a seperate pool for saving the index & bootstrap backups. This can be done by creating a new pool named index with selecting all groups and in the "Selection Criteria" for saveset place following:
index:
bootstrap

That sounds like a plan. I'll probably create a new data domain device and pool dedicated for index backup and create a new clone job to make sure they also get duplicated to physical tapes. I currently clone at the pool level..
