Networker backup with microsoft application module fail
Good afternoon, how to configure the NMM 2.1.1 NMC 7.6.1 to backup Exchange 2007 sp2 on a Windows 2008 sp1 x64 Std. I have a Apllication information NSR_SNAP_TYPE = vss
NSR_DATA_MOVER = localhost
NSR_ALT_PATH = C: \ mount_replica \
NSR_IGNORE_MISSING_SYSTEM_FILES = yes
to save sets I have
APPLICATIONS: \ Microsoft Exchange 2007
APPLICATIONS: \ Microsoft Exchange 2007 \ SRV04 - Storage Group 01
APPLICATIONS: \ Microsoft Exchange 2007 \ SRV04 - Storange Group 02
I got this when running on the client nsrsnap_vss_save -?
however, displaying the error, which I do not understand:

When configuring an Exchange Storage Group (from now on SG), you need to set the log path and system path to be exactly the same, however please don't get confused with the physical location of the logs and DB.
System and Log path has to be the same.
Exchange logs and DB's must reside in different paths.
I see you installed NMM 2.3 here, and not really 2.1.1, so subject of the thread should be more accurate, however let me reply your question. This is what I see:
NSR_SNAP_TYPE=vss
NSR_DATA_MOVER=localhost
NSR_ALT_PATH=C:\mount_replica\
NSR_IGNORE_MISSING_SYSTEM_FILES=yes
APPLICATIONS:\Microsoft Exchange 2007
APPLICATIONS:\Microsoft Exchange 2007\SRV04 - Storage Group 01
APPLICATIONS:\Microsoft Exchange 2007\SRV04 - Storage Group 02
Having this said these are my questions. Is this clustered environment? If so, is it SCC, LCR or CCR?
Also, you are backing up twice all SG's, as setting savest APPLICATIONS:\Microsoft Exchange 2007 will backup all Exchange Storage Groups, so you should leave ONLY that saveset: APPLICATIONS:\Microsoft Exchange 2007
Also, please remove the Application Information variable NSR_IGNORE_MISSING_SYSTEM_FILES=yes, this only applies for File System backups.
Also please remove the following variable (which is not required, only needed for Proxy Host backups): NSR_DATA_MOVER=localhost
So in closing, this is how client and group should be configured for Exchange 2007 stand-alone environment:
Client:
Backup command: nsrsnap_vss_save
Save set: APPLICATIONS:\Microsoft Exchange 2007
Application Information Variables:
NSR_SNAP_TYPE=vss
NSR_ALT_PATH=C:\mount_replica
Group:
Snapshot backup=yes (Just check the box)
Snapshot Policy= Serverless Backup
Snapshot Pool= Any pool already configured, the one you want to use for these backups
And that's pretty much it. This is the default configuration.
I have one standalone MS Exchange 2007 server, I did as you advised me, but my backup all fell early and became a red circle with a white cross:

there is a good documentation titled "Microsoft Exchange 2010 Backup and Recovery Support with EMC NetWorker" Technical Notes explaining the supported configs and setup

Hey Alex,
in this case is the Exchange configuration, which doesn't match the NMM requirements:
log file path and system file path do not
match. Terminating backup. 2 0 24 SRV04 - Storage Group 01 0 5 SRV04
When configuring an Exchange Storage Group (from now on SG), you need to set the log path and system path to be exactly the same, however please don't get confused with the physical location of the logs and DB.
System and Log path has to be the same.
Exchange logs and DB's must reside in different paths.
Thank you.
Carlos.
