Networker Migration from AIX to linux

Hi,

Do you see any problems to migrate NW server from an AIX server to a linux server?
(NW DB, NW ressources, filesystem, etc...)

Is it supported?

Do you have any experience on that?

    Hi,

Last time I looked the movement of the NSR database between different operating systems was NOT supported.

Goal: How To Migrate NetWorker between platforms
Goal: The best way to migrate to a new platform
Goal: How to move the NetWorker server cross platforms
    Fact: NetWorker
    Symptom: Indexes are not moving
Cause: Moving the NetWorker software to another operating system is not supported due to the fact that the media database is not stored in a portable format (XDR).
Fix: Cannot move between different platforms.

We migrated NetWorker three years ago from AIX to Linux, this was basically an installation from scratch.

I don't want to scare you off, but in our case this migration turned out to be a very big mistake. From the first to the last day running NetWorker on Linux we had stability and performance problems.

Three weeks ago I migrated NetWorker from Linux to Windows and all my Linux stability and performance problems have disappeared. I couldn't be more happier.
