Using a Windows 2008 Storage Node

Hello,

We are currently using Networker 8.1 to backup some Solaris servers and are running low on space. I have very limited experience with Networker (recently hired) and was tasked with trying to find more storage for the backups. I read that we could use a Windows 2008 server as a Storage Node - is it possible to use the local disks on the Windows server?

Or does any storage used need to be attached from a SAN to the Windows server?

    In general, you can make any supported OS a remote storage node and use its local disks.

    However, do not forget that you need appropriate licenses which maybe not covered by your current license agreement.

    Thanks for the information - now that I know it is supported I'll hopefully get it working (if we do use it we'll get the licenses).
