receiving vss writer retryable errors after several hours backup up. Has anyone received the same error. Does anyone know why and any sugestion in resolving the issue.
The default inactivity timeout setting in the groups are 30 (minutes) and the reason behind setting it to "0" (no limit) is basically to allow the VSS operations (snapshot creation/mount/consistency check) to take the required time, so the group doesn't get timed out if the VSS operations take long time.
The reason behind the TCP/IP settings are in fact Microsoft changes, as described in the following articles:
These settings keep the TCP/IP connections open, so doesn't time out, and the connections is kept alive to allow NetWorker server and clients to send data when required without any problem.

Hi Thierry,
The default inactivity timeout setting in the groups are 30 (minutes) and the reason behind setting it to "0" (no limit) is basically to allow the VSS operations (snapshot creation/mount/consistency check) to take the required time, so the group doesn't get timed out if the VSS operations take long time.
The reason behind the TCP/IP settings are in fact Microsoft changes, as described in the following articles:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc957546.aspx
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc938219.aspx
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc957548.aspx
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc957549.aspx
These settings keep the TCP/IP connections open, so doesn't time out, and the connections is kept alive to allow NetWorker server and clients to send data when required without any problem.
Let us know if you need any further information.
Thank you.
Carlos.
