With the NetWorker capacity licensing model, you can license the NetWorker 7.6 Service Pack 1 (SP1) and later software by using a capacity metric: capacity in terabytes (TBs) not in GBs, so i think your license you mean is 2 TB.

With capacity licensing, you can deploy unlimited quantities of the NetWorker options and modules such as Microsoft applications, databases, deduplication, VTL, disk, and drive sharing to protect up to the amount of licensed capacity. Capacity is defined as the total aggregate amount of data on the clients or devices on which:

- The NetWorker software is installed.

- The NetWorker software is used to provide data protection.

Data is measured as the largest aggregate full backup or synthetic full backup that is the combination of full backups and incremental backups performed for all protected data by the NetWorker software over a two-month period (60 days). This is irrespective of where the data is backed up, for example, to tape, disk, VTL, Avamar Data Store, or Data Domain.

Hi,

There are two types of license enablers associated with capacity licensing:

a) NetWorker source capacity data zone enabler:

The NetWorker source capacity data zone enabler is an on/off key and has to be applied once per NetWorker Server/data zone. Once this enabler is applied, NetWorker software recognizes the licensing scheme as capacity-based.

b) Tiered capacity entitlement license enabler:

In addition to the NetWorker source capacity data zone enabler, the appropriate number of capacity entitlement licenses need to be applied per NetWorker Server/data zone.

The capacity entitlement licenses cannot be split across NetWorker Servers. Individual capacity entitlement licenses are required for each NetWorker Server/data zone.

For example, if NetWorker Server A protects 10 TB source capacity and NetWorker Server B protects 20 TB source capacity, then NetWorker Server A needs at least 10 TB capacity entitlement license and NetWorker Server B needs at least 20 TB capacity entitlement license

thanks for you all.

i am still not sure if the limitation of a 2 TB which i am beeing offerd by EMC will be a problem if backup  size exceeded that number

as of now i can't determine the expected data size in 3 months ahead as i have SAP implementation still in progress and not yet live

Backup will continues to work even if the size exceeds more than 2 TB.

There is a free tool available for calculating the source capacity for your environment.  The Asset Management & Planning (AMP) Tool is available for download on Powerlink:     Home > Support > Product and Diagnostic Tools > Asset Management and Planning (AMP).  This will calculate the source capacity for you.

Wait till all your implementation is complete. Then use this tool.

Is there any way to convert a working networker system with triditional license mode into a capacity license mode? Of couse the new capacity licenses will be ordered.

There are addon capacity licenses available, which can be added as the capacity of the datazone increases.
