Go to Solutioninterconnecting Dell switches
hello, I am attempting to build an off-LAN iSCSI network. I have two PC7024F and two PC8024F switches. I am looking for some kind of best practices white paper on how to interconnect all these switches optimally for iSCSI traffic. So far searches for any example configurations have come up nil. Can anyone point me to white papers or case studies where they show how all these switches work together? I am interested in knowing what others are doing.
I am using Compellent SC040 array with 10GBE optical ports. I plan to uplink the 8024F switches to the 7024 using the back SFP+ optical modules.
I also have Equallogic PS4100X with 1GB copper I plan to connect to the 7024F switches. I want my hosts to be able to connect to either storage whether it be 10GB or 1GB ethernet.
any assistance appreciated,
thanks,
don

Regarding the EqualLogic part of your question, you will want to review the following documents:
EqualLogic Configuration Guide
en.community.dell.com/.../equallogic-configuration-guide.aspx
The White paper for Deploying a Mixed 1Gb/10Gb Ethernet SAN
www.dellstorage.com/.../DownloadAsset.aspx
And this white paper for iSCSI optimization for Dell PowerConnect Switches
