Vlan communication

1. How do  you configure Inter - VLAN Communication between Dell PowerConnect 3348 and Cisco 2950 Switch?

2. How is VLAN configuration achieved between a Dell PowerConnect 5224 Gigabit Switch and a Dell PowerConnect 3348?

Thank You !

Inter-VLAN communication (between separate VLANs) would require a router or layer 3 device. Intra-VLAN communication is done on layer 2 devices by "trunking" multiple VLANs across a single link.

    1.  For Intra-VLAN communication between the 3348 and 2950, you would create a trunk mode port on the 3348 and add all of the VLANs you want to trunk. You would then create the trunk on the 2950 and configure it to use dot1q encapsulation.

    2.  For Intra-VLAN communication between the 3348 and 5224, you would create a trunk mode port on the 3348 and add all of the VLANs you want to trunk. On the 5224, you would simply tag all of the additional VLANs (leave the native VLAN untagged) you want to trunk.

For command line references, see the following links:
