I am trying to get a computer connected to our network. It says it has no or limited connection. I have restarted, shut down, and changed cables. Nothing works. however, the other 23 computers are all connecting to the network with out a problem.
It would help to know the make and model of the computer, the version of Windows, the type of connection (wired ethernet or wireless), and whether or not this computer has ever successfully connected to this network before.
Type "cmd" & click OK, the Command Prompt (black) window appears;
On the command prompt, type the ff.
ipconfig /flushdns
- "Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache" appears;
arp -d *
- The command may or may not give a result, just ignore it
netsh winsock reset
- "Successfully reset the Winsock Catalog. You must restart the computer in order to complete the reset." appears;
Restart/reboot the computer normally & try again once back at WinXP.
