I've had a home network for a while in this house. 3 desktops and now an additional laptop. Ever since day 1 with the laptop I could access the network fine. Now, one of the desktops (mine) cannot be accessed.... you can't access the shared files. When attempting to go to \\[computer name] i get:
\\[computer name] is not accessible. You might not have permission to access this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions
Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer".
As I said it has all worked fine.. and the other 2 desktops+laptop can all continue to access each other's things.. just not this one desktop.
I don't remember anything changing at all... what could it be?
I can't remember if Xp Home lets you do this, but try going into Administrative tools -> Local Security Policy and make sure you have 'Access this computer from the network' rights. If you don't have that option, check the share properties.
