I'm trying to help troubleshoot my girlfriend's laptop. She used to have a D-Link PCMICA wireless card that she used all of the time without any trouble whatsoever. Then one day, either her kids got to it, or something, it just stopped working altogether. I had a Netgear PCMICA wireless card that I let her borrow (nice one too 108 MB dual band/channel etc), and it intalled just find, but after about a minute of using it, her CPU usage just went through the roof. No program I stopped or anything seemed to help until we unplugged the card. I cleaned her system up of any spyware etc and that didn't help either. So being the nice guy I am, I bought her another new D-Link wireless card, thinking that was what worked last time so I'll stick with it, and it worked. For about a week, and then it went right back to running the CPU till it drops. This of course bogs down the computer and it's like surfing on dial-up agian. Unplug the card, everythings fine. Hooking an ethernet cable to her laptop works just fine as well. In fact there's nothing else wrong with her computer, until you trying going wireless with it. I've been through all the settings for the card, but couldn't find anything that would cause her CPU to just start running itself into the ground. Anyone have any ideas? All help appreciated.........
