Dimension modem problem

Could anyone advise / help me - what modem do I need (Dimension 1100 Celeron computer), item number 530 10654? The problem is that I have installed a generic modem and have been unable to get it to work - and may have damaged something on the motherboard in the process!!

    Any PCI Modem Card should be compatable. Did you install the drivers for your new card after you physically installed it? If not give that a try and see if you dont have better results.
     
    However if you did damage something on the motherboard then theres not much you can do about that now :(
