Ehternet driver missing
I have DIM4300 and recently the ethernet card does not seem to be functioning. The driver seems to be missing and my CD_ROM does not work to re-install the driver from the CD. I tried the dell.com website but could not find the right driver. Also chatted with their customer service who could not find the driver in the dell website. He directed me to 3Com's website and told me that the driver name and asked me to install it frlom their website. I tried that also but the driver I downloaded is not working.
When I use Control Panel---System-----Hardware---Device Manager---Ehternet Controller has a question mark against it. I tried updating the driver but system cannot find the driver automatically even after downloading the driver from 3Com wesbite.
How can I fix this?
- Are you sure you have a 3COM network adapter? To find out what was shipped on your computer, go to the following site:enter your Service Tag number and click on the Original Configuration tab. This will give you a somewhat cryptic list of the components shipped with your computer from which you may be able to figure out which ethernet adapter you have.Steve
Message Edited by volcano11 on 07-23-2007 08:02 PM - Since I cannot see what you are doing from the other end of the internet, you have to be explicit!!It might even help if you told me exactly which 3COM network adatper was listed on the "Original Configuration" information that I pointed you too. Remember, I don't have your service tag and I cannot see the information. YOU have to tell me.Steve
