I ran the wizard for networking two of my computers, both running Windows XP. The both have Service Pack 2. One is a desktop and one a laptop. They are both wired into my network. I enabled file and printer sharing. However, it only works one way. The desktop is able to access the files on the laptop, but the laptop shows not files on the desktop. It gives me an error message:
"\\computer is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.
Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer."
I have disabled both windows firewalls. I have also tried disabling my McAfee firewall, but still no success.
Enable the firewall, but configure to allow users access via the network to shared files and printers. Do this on both systems. Ensure users on both systems have the same administrative rights.
How do I ensure that both computers have the same administrative rights?
I tried everything on the list, but some didn't work. For example, the enable simple file and printer sharing didn't work. I don't even have the option on my desktop. Could this be causing it?
