Could a person with technical knowledge please let me know exactly the equipment I need to create a Home Network with my new Dell 2400 Dimension PC and my old PC running Win95?
This should be if possible a connection that would NOT use either broadband or DSL connections but rely on my AOL ISP connection!
My reading of the information available leads me to believe it is possible...but then...the more I read the more confused I get!
I want to order the peripherals I would need but I don't know exactly what I would need!
I could ask a salesman...but would they look out for my interest?
More than likely, you new 2400 came with a built in network card (NIC) and you will need a PCI network card for the 95 machine. Now, you want to shre the AOL connection between the two? Correct?
Thank you for responding! My message may be somewhat convoluted as I have been through the wringer setting up new PC...transferring files from old PC to new one and at the same time working nights!
Still I see the advantage of using my old PC as a kitchen/family room PC and having the new PC in my den/bedroom!
At this time I am not ready for "wireless" Or $500.00 dollar a year cable access!
I will study the sites you suggest trying to get a clear picture of what I need for minimal
home network set up using AOL ISP connection!
Thanks again for taking time to help! Hope your kindness brings you a lot of good luck!
