Home Network?

Hi,
Do I have to set up a Home Network before I do the File Sharing for the Printer.

I have My Dimension 9100 as the main computer which has the wirless router. Then I have a Laptop with an wireless adapter. Then the other day I bought an wirless adapter for my Dimension Desktop 4400. That is 3 computers all have Windows XP Home.

I am having problems trying to get to the File Sharing and Printer. Someone said I need to set up home Neywork first.

Can someone help me?

If everything is connected to the router either by ethernet or a wireless connection then you have a network set up.  You have to then enable File and Printer sharing on each computer, designate drives/folders/printers as shared devices, then make sure any firewalls are configured to allow local network access.  On any computer running Windows XP with SP1, disable the Windows XP firewall. It will not allow File and Printer Sharing. On computers running Windows XP with SP2, make sure that the Windows XP firewall has File and Printer Sharing checked off on the Exceptions tab. If you are running any third party firewalls, like those provided by such programs as Zone Alarm, Norton Internet Security, or McAfee Security Suite, make sure they are configured to allow local network traffic.  A great tutorial on setting up a network (file and printer sharing) can be found in the tutorials at www.homenethelp.com.

    Help!
I have made a mistake somewhere along trying to set this File Sharing.
I get a message on the Laptop reading this with the yellow explanation mark (!)....
"Windows System Error- A duplicate name exits on the network".....
So all I want to know for now is how do I undue whatever mistake I made?.....
I want to get rid of the Internect Connection in the Network Connection.....Because it is not set up right. I just want to delete that Internet Connection.....
Please tell me what I should do to go back to before I tried this File Sharing?....
    Thanks!

I'm not sure I understand what you mean be getting rid of the "Internet Connection in the Network Connection".  Is that there from before?  Is it a USB connection?  If so, then it shouldn't be causing a problem.  Hopefully, you are not trying to use Internet Connection Sharing on any of these computers with the setup that you have.

As for the duplicate computers names, make sure each computer on the network has a unique name.  You can see and change the network name of each computer by right clicking "My Computer", selecting "Properties" from the drop-down menu, then clicking on the "Computer Name" tab.
