Can someone tell he how to silence my modem when dialing up to the internet? I have adjusted the modem volumn but it still makes a dialing noise and a ringing noise.
Even though you may turn down or eliminate the modem sounds in modem properties, many ISP's software includes commands to turn it on. Who is your ISP?
If the modem sounds come through the speakers, you can disable this function in the sound card properties. Click Start->All Programs->Accessories->Entertainment->Volume Control. Click Options->Properties. Be sure that "Playback" is selected and uncheck the selection for "modem" or for "TAD-In". Click OK and then close the Volume Control window. This should stop the modem sounds from coming through the system speakers.
