I have a Inspiron 5100 with a Broadcom 440x 10/100 intregrated controller. Device manager shows no problems, but I cannot connect to a network of any sort, I just keep getting a network cable is unplugged, then it shows connected, and then back to unplugged again.
In View Netwrok Connections, it shows the LAN connection, a Bridge and another network device.
I have tried removing the bridge, but no difference.
Can anyone please point me in the right direction so I can connect to my network?
What are you connecting the network card to? When the 'network cable unplugged" message appears, do the link lights next to the RJ45 jacks on your computer and the networking device into which you are connecting both go out? Have you tried replacing the network cable. Are you sure the cable is securely plugged into the jacks?
I have tried different cables (also tested the cables with a tester), The cable goes into a hub and both lights come and go like traffic lights! I have also tried the cable in a different socket on the hub.
